My earliest memory of having a tank was when I was around 7-8 years old. I remember when my parents would take me to the aquatic fish market on Sundays – something I would look forward to all week. I used to love seeing my mom pick koi fish to add to our tiny koi pond. When we moved to a bigger house, my parents built a much bigger Japanese style koi pond that housed dozens of multi coloured koi – pure bliss!
Being exposed to fish keeping at a young age and growing up in South East Asia became my biggest creative influence. Being able to afford to experiment, to try different products and freely seek information are all my enablers. I have my parents to thank for encouraging me in this hobby back then… until today. And to the biggest influencer and source of my nature tank inspiration, Mr Takashi Amano himself – the Yoda of the Aquascaping world.
I can only hope that one day I can be a similar source of inspiration to others.
